Hello Rachael
I’ve followed your blog for quite some time now, and I was hoping you could give me some advice. I’ve recently been approached by a start-up company in South Wales to create customised and branded ESL materials to support some STEM courses in a Chinese university.
I am hoping to write these courses (18 hours each) with my colleague, Pete Clements who is also an ELT blogger. We are both DELTA/Dip qualified and have MAs in Linguistics and EFL. The problem is we have no idea how much we should be charging for course writing, particularly when we won’t be following a textbook.
We don’t want to go in there with too high a price, particularly as they’re a start- up but similarly, we don’t want to sell ourselves short (we work full-time for another company too).
We know that you have extensive experience with this and were wondering if you had any suggestions?
Best wishes
Sarah
