Dear Rachael,
My name is Nancy Matis and I’m managing a website about translation, bookmaking interesting information on this sector.
I would like to ask you if you would allow me to bookmark some of your articles on this website:
http://www.translation-bookmarking.com/
Indeed, following a discussion I had about the bookmarking of articles on my website, I prefer to ask all the authors or website’s owners for their permission to share the links to their articles in this way. Sorry for the long email below, but please let me know if you agree :-).
The goal is NOT to copy your content, of course, but to bookmark your article(s) or material in order to send people to your own website. The bookmarking of an article works the same way as on social networks. Indeed, as on Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, the bookmark creates a link to your article, showing its title, the first sentences and, in many cases, the graphical representation associated to it. Where there is none, I add one of my own images.
When visitors click on the link, they are redirected right away to the article on your website and can start browsing it.
At first, the idea behind this site was to share links to interesting articles with my students. Still, I thought that it could also interest people in the translation industry and I made this site public.
Let me know if I can bookmark your content, as for instance I did for the some other articles bookmarked in the ‘Freelancers’ category: http://www.translation-bookmarking.com/category/players/freelancers/
I’d like to add yours: https://elt-resourceful.com/2012/09/26/some-user-friendly-concordance-ideas/ in the “Education” category. Actually, one of my student sent it to me for bookmarking :-).
Could you also let me know your opinion on the following:
– Normally, the plugin I use automatically proposes to display the same graphical representation as the one appearing on your website – do you agree with this or would you prefer that I select one of my own images?
– The first words of your articles or the tagline appear together with the image – most of the time around 55 words. Is this fine for you?
– May I indicate on social networks that I bookmarked your articles?
There is some more information about this bookmarking website on the following pages:
Many thanks in advance
Kind regards
Nancy
